Inspired by Color
One of the main reasons I love illustrating is that I LOVE COLOR, and drawing colorful pictures lets me essentially play with all the colors I want, combine them in fun ways, and live in a world of bright, saturated hues. The lines have long been blurred for me between the colors I’m using in my work, the colors I wear, and the colors I decorate my house with. I just can’t get enough color!
So recently when I was in the mood to create some new illustrated quotes, I was inspired by two quotes about color. This one, by John Ruskin, I love because I totally agree, haha:
And this one, by Oscar Wilde, I think is also very true. Colors speak to our souls in a way that nothing else quite does…:
With both of these, I had a lot of fun using floral motifs to embellish the words, and really enjoyed picking out the colors to use. Especially the rainbow palette for the Wilde quote, which was one of those things that popped into my mind as I was drifting off to sleep one night, so you could say I thought of the palette first and then found a quote that would go with it!
