Nativity Activity for The Friend Magazine

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! I recently illustrated this scene of the shepherds in the field for The Friend Magazine’s latest issue. It’s part of an activity page for the littlest readers, where they spot what all of the shepherds have in common and count how many stars there are. It was a great opportunity to use an interesting night-time colorway, which also incorporates colors from the magazine’s palette. This is not my first illustration of this scene (see this post for a whole book I illustrated about this very subject!) but it was fun to create this version with all of the little sheep and the sturdy little shepherds. I hope all of the kids out there who subscribe to The Friend enjoyed it, and a big thank you to the folks at the magazine for being so lovely to work with!
